SHILLONG, May 1: Meghalaya unit of the all-India student organisation, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), has written to the President of India urging him to appoint a Vice Chancellor (VC) at the North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, while pointing out that the varsity is facing various challenges.
In the letter, ABVP Meghalaya expressed concern over the vacant VC’s post in the University for more than a year. “The vice chancellor of any university plays a decisive role in the day-to-day functioning of the university but unfortunately in the North Eastern Hill University even after one year, no permanent vice chancellor has been appointed due to which the university has to face academic and administrative problems,” the ABVP said in its letter, while pointing out that more than NEHU educates 5,000 students in 44 departments.
