TURA, May 11: Tura BJP MDC, Bernard Marak, on Tuesday appealed to the new GHADC Executive Committee (EC), led by CEM Benedic Marak, to release the pending salary of the employees as per the new scale under the Fifth Pay Commission.
Bernard, in his letter to the CEM, maintained that the release of salaries as per the new scale be considered as it was a genuine demand.
“I appreciate the initiative being taken to pay five months’ salary to the employees. However, the salaries should be released as per the new scale as it has already been approved by the then EC led by NPP in 2018,” Bernard said, adding that the pending salary issue was not only taking a toll on the employees but the people of Garo Hills in general.
Meanwhile, Bernard also acknowledged the Secretary of the Finance department for clarifying on the alleged diversion of funds allocated to the GHADC under the 15th Finance Commission grants.
He expressed hope that the same can be utilised to pay the pending salaries once it is released by the government.
