EGH Police unearth cache of ammo
TURA, May 21: Police in East Garo Hills on Thursday recovered a hidden cache of ammunitions and magazines, suspected to have been left behind by unidentified militants, from a place close to the jungles of Rapdikgre village. Acting on input, a police team, led by senior police officers along with the officer in-charge of Williamnagar Police Station and SF-10 commandoes, proceeded to Rapdikgre village and conducted a search of the suspected area. During search, the team unearthed the cache around 1:30 am of May 20. The items that were recovered include 12 numbers of FN FAL Rifle (SLR) magazines and 22 7.7 mm live ammunitions.
Anti-Terrorism Day in NEHU
SHILLONG, May 21: Marking the Anti-Terrorism Day, the officials at North-Eastern Hill University on Friday virtually took the anti-terrorism pledge, which was administered by Vice Chancellor SK Srivastava and Registrar, JN Nayak. According to a statement, the pledge was taken with an objective to promote national harmony, unity, and mitigate terrorism among people of all caste, creed, and sex. “Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, the pledge was taken from the safety of their homes,” the University said in the statement. The anti-terrorism day is observed every year on May 21, which is the death anniversary of the former prime minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. The day is observed with an objective to generate awareness amongst all sections of the society about the alarming impact of terrorism and violence on humanity.
