SHILLONG, May 28: Police have warned the public of women fraudsters who reportedly send friend/follow requests on different social media platforms and ask the WhatsApp number of men in particular.
In a statement, the police informed that after getting the contact number, they reportedly lure the victim into a video call and entice them to be involved in a sexual activity. The alleged fraudsters then record such activities and later blackmail the victim for money.
“The general public has hereby been advised not to fall prey to this scam played by the fraudsters and to be wary of friend requests from strangers,” the statement said.
