SHILLONG, June 8: Former Minister KC Boro, who recently resigned as vice president of state BJP protesting party president Ernest Mawrie’s “dictatorial” style of functioning, has urged the party’s central leadership to remove him (Mawrie) from his post in the best interest of the organisation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he accused Mawrie of “arrogant style of functioning” which has resulted in the resignation of as many as 18 “dissatisfied” office-bearers since he was appointed the president. Boro also alleged that during the recent GHADC election, the party lost two safe seats —Naguapara and Shyamnagar — due to Mawrie’s choice of wrong candidates.
Boro, who is reportedly facing suspension for anti-party activities, forewarned that unless BJP appoints a new president there is no hope for the saffron party to gain strength in the state election of 2023.
