Event for farmers on tech at Ri Bhoi varsity

SHILLONG, June 10: In a bid to provide various key inputs to farmers pertaining to technology, College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai (Central Agricultural University-Imphal), Ri Bhoi, organised a programme on ‘Community empowerment through technology products’.
Directory of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department, Dr KB Sahkhar, attended the programme virtually as chief guest besides other participants from Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi as well.
Among other distinguished guests was Tura MP Agatha Sangma, who spoke about the importance of the programme and how the Central Agricultural University is benefitting farmers in the region.
Making initiatives to help the community in these trying times, the college staff contributed their one-day salary towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The college has also provided assistance to farmers worth over Rs 12 lakhs in terms of agricultural inputs such as cattle food, poultry food, medicines for cattle, mineral supplements, chaff cutter, milk can, poultry birds, poultry feeds, farm implements, fertilisers, fruit saplings, portable vermin beds, vegetable seeds etc.
