SHILLONG, June 10: Following the objection of several medical professionals to Mawsynram MLA HM Shangpliang allegedly intimidating the health workers of Dangar PHC, the All India Meghalaya Medicos Association (AIMMA) has condemned the “indifferent attitude” portrayed by the legislator during his visit to the PHC.
It may be recalled that a controversy had sparked after the death of a woman during childbirth at the PHC recently.
Voicing its concerns, the AIMMA stated that an inquiry into the cause of death of a patient cannot be done “whimsically without proper medical experts”.
“This kind of shoddy portrayal of medical professionals would only pave way to stigmatisation, hatred and distrust by the society towards the medical professionals which currently medical professionals of India are facing,” the association said.
Maintaining that such actions of the MLA would only demotivate the medical professionals who are giving their best in fighting the pandemic, the association said that the MLA should raise other pertinent issues such as lack of road, health and other infrastructures.
