Nongpoh, July 13: Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah has suspended the plying of vehicles on the Bailey bridge at Dwar U Ksuid between 9 pm to 5 am every day till July 31.
In a directive, the DC said that the plying of overladen vehicles has attributed to the damage on the bridge.
“It has been observed that overloaded vehicles over 40 MT vehicles are plying over the Bailey bridge and overspeeding (more than the limited speed, i.e., 10 km/h), which is damaging the Bailey bridge,” the DC said.
Kurbah has also called for proper checking of vehicles on the weigh bridge so that plying of vehicles weighing over 40 MT is checked.
