Group seizes illegal timber

TURA, July 18: According to a delayed report, a truck loaded with illegal timber was on Saturday evening intercepted by members of the FKJGP, Garo Hills Zone, and seized after the occupants of the vehicle were unable produce proper documents.
According to a release issued here, members of the FKJGP were alerted by villagers of Grenggandi village in South West Garo Hills about the suspicious movement of outsiders (non-locals) in the area following which, the organisation members rushed to the area and seized it.
The seized vehicle along with the timber was later handed over to the State Divisional Forest Office, Tura.
