SHILLONG, July 26: Rajya Sabha member Prof. Rakesh Sinha, who adopted Kongthong, popularly known as the whistling village in Meghalaya, has said that modern toilets with “good physical looks” are necessary after construction of new set of ten toilets were completed under the initiative of Prof. Rakesh Sinha.
“Modern toilets with good physical looks were necessary because Kongthong attracts a large number of tourists both from the Northeastern states and across the country. The project was completed in stipulated time,” the MP told The Shillong Times.
The MP said that the villagers are pleased to find that someone is emotionally and democratically connected with them. He also informed that a sanitary napkin vending machine would soon be installed to facilitate sanitary napkins to the young women of Kongthong.
