SHILLONG, Aug 7: Health Minister Prestone Tynsong on Saturday warned action against anybody who contravenes COVID SOPs and asserted that the government right now has no intent of imposing another lockdown.
Tynsong said this while reacting to the allegations levelled by Opposition leader Mukul Sangma against Chief Minister Conrad Sangma last week of organising a huge gathering in Songsak during project inauguration. “From the government side, we have a standing order and SOPs too are there; even religious gatherings and political meetings are not allowed. If anybody is found violating the order, he/she will be punished,” the health minister said.
When asked about the political meeting organised recently by the BJP in Shillong, Tynsong said that in such scenarios, the DCs concerned, before issuing permission for any meeting, assess the ground situation and in many cases, such matters is referred to the Political department.
When asked about the COVID-hit traditional institutions who want financial aid from the state government, the health minister said that the government has been releasing between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 to Community COVID Management Teams.
