M’laya launches training prog for teachers

SHILLONG, Aug 9: Meghalaya government launched its integrated training programme for secondary and higher secondary teachers called NISHTHA 2.0, or National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers for Holistic Advancement 2.0, here on Monday.
After launching the programme, Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui called upon the teaching fraternity to take up this training while maintaining that teaching is a profession which requires specialisation in terms of knowledge and skills.
The minister asserted that one of the most important requirements to promote and strengthen education sector in the state is training of teachers who are the key resources to reform, redirect and renew this sector.
Others present included Secretary of Education department, A Ch Marak, Deputy Director of Directorate of Education Research & Training, PB Lartang and others.
