8 more succumb to COVID

SHILLONG, Aug 16: Recoveries exceeded fresh cases in Meghalaya on Monday while eight more people succumbed to the viral infection in the past 24 hour.
Six fatalities were reported from East Khasi Hills while two were reported from West Khasi Hills. The death toll in the state now stands at 1,235.
With 352 fresh cases, the active tally in the state now stands at 3,761 while 649 recoveries took the number of patients cured/discharged to 67,164.
241 fresh cases were reported in East Khasi Hills, 40 in West Jaintia Hills, 28 in Ri Bhoi, 24 West Khasi Hills, six in East Garo Hills, four each in West Garo Hills and East Jaintia Hills, two each in South West Khasi Hills and South West Garo Hills and one in North Garo Hills.
