SHILLONG, Aug 16: BJP Meghalaya in-charge, M Chuba Ao on Monday asserted that the question of withdrawing the party’s support from the NPP-led MDA Government does not arise.
“Let us see what the government is doing. The Chief Minister is number one among the equals and I understand everybody agrees to disagree,” he said while adding that it would be tough for the elected members of the party to take a call of withdrawing from the government without consultations.
“How will they decide on their own without consultations?” Ao questioned, adding that Lahkmen Rymbui has done a good job by offering to resign from the Home department following the recent incidents.
The BJP leader also asked the MDA Government to constitute a committee to ensure that talks take place between the Government and the HNLC since all the issues have to be resolved democratically.
Condemning the recent violence in Shillong, Ao said that he has already apprised the central party leadership of the incidents which have occurred in the capital town in the last few days.
