Seminars in EKH, Ri Bhoi on rural roads

SHILLONG/NONGPOH, Aug 20: As part of the Centre’s programme ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’, conceptualised to commemorate the 75th Independence Day, District Rural Road Seminar was organised by the office of the Superintending Engineer, PWD (Roads), Eastern Shillong Circle, on ‘Role of PMGSY in development of respective rural areas’ here on Friday.
Sohra MLA Gavin M Mylliem was the chief guest of the programme and SDO (Civil), Sohra Civil Subdivision L Kynjing was the guest of honour.
Programme implementation unit, PMGSY, from various blocks under East Khasi Hills and PWD contractors from the district participated in the seminar.
Meanwhile, the PWD office in Ri Bhoi also organised a similar seminar on implementation of PMGSY-III for Ri Bhoi, the only Aspirational District in Meghalaya, at a programme in Nongpoh on Friday.
Minister in-charge of Fisheries, PWD (Building) and General Administration Department, Dasakhiat Lamare, was the chief guest of the seminar amidst other dignitaries including Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Umroi MLA George B Lyngdoh, and Umsning MLA Jason S Mawlong, besides BDOs of four C&RD Blocks, officers and staff of the PWD and community leaders.
