SHILLONG, Aug 24: The Umsning Area Headman Forum has alleged that Umsning Community Health Centre (CHC) lacks facilities such for X-Ray, ECG, blood test, etc, which has become a perennial burden for the patients and their families, especially the downtrodden who visit the CHC from far-flung areas and are unable to afford higher treatment cost.
For more than two years, male patients have not been admitted in the CHC after an old building collapsed, the Forum said, adding that many patients have suffered and several left without treatment resulting in disappointment and, in certain conditions, putting their lives at risk.
The Forum has urged the Health department to expedite the construction of the facility at the earliest, while also calling for setting up of aforementioned requirements at the centre which caters to the needs of more the 302 villages under Umsning Block.
