TURA, Aug 24: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday informed that Prime Hub will soon be set up in South West Garo Hills as part of government’s initiative for the benefits of the farmers from the region.
It may be mentioned that the chief minister has been touring different districts and interacting with farmers under government’s flagship programme ‘FOCUS’ in a bid to raise awareness on the potential to upscale agriculture activities in the state.
The interactions are also being held to ensure that farmers come together to form Producers Group and avail financial support, which the state government, through the Meghalaya Basin Management Authority, has initiated. Speaking at Tuesday’s interaction programme at Ampati, Conrad assured that the initiative, which is being implemented across the state to render training to farmers and entrepreneurs through Meghalaya Basin Management Authority, will be made available for South West Garo Hills very soon.
Speaking about the government’s commitment towards the interests of the farming fraternity, the chief minister also assured that all necessary support will be provided to them through various farmer welfare programmes.
As part of the programme, various Producers Groups also received financial support from the chief minister.
