TURA, Aug 30: The first Budget session of the new NPP-led Executive Committee in Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be held from September 6, after more than a one-month delay owing to the COVID-19 situation.
“The second session of the GHADC is being resummoned to meet at 11 am on 6th September in the District Council Session Hall. The session will be held from 6th to 8th of September,” informed GHADC chairman, Rakesh A Sangma, while speaking to The Shillong Times on Monday.
It may be mentioned that the first session to swear in the newly elected members took place two months ago but a subsequent session to initiate the Budget session of the new EC headed by GHADC chief Benedic R Marak could not materialise due to the COVID-19 situation in Garo Hills.
Both the GHADC CEM and chairman were also infected with the virus and were subsequently isolated on the eve of the proposed Budget session.
