SHILLONG, Sep 8: With emphasis on the roles of parents and communities to use their literacy in encouraging and assisting those that are facing difficulties on how to read and write, especially amid the COVID-19 crisis, a social organisation, SPARK, on the occasion of World Literacy Day, took the initiative to enroll mothers of children into its educational centres with a unique idea of their children playing the crucial role of an educator to educate these mothers.
In a statement, the SPARK said that children handed over educational materials to their mothers and brought them back to the process of learning by teaching them to read and write.
“Many of the mothers were in tears of joy seeing their children’s efforts towards educating their mothers thereby empowering them with the strong tool of education,” the SPARK said.
SPARK has been running different centres for out-of-school children in a bid to provide education to them.
