CBI registers case against officials
SHILLONG, Sep 9: The Central bureau of Investigation, Anti Corruption Bureau, Shillong, has registered case against Depot Manager and shed in-charges L. Sanatomba Singh, AG-II Raju Kumar Das, TAG-III Raju Kumar Das, et al, over allegations of dishonest and fraudulent misappropriation of foodgrains and gunny bags, and for reportedly making false/fictitious entries in the records of Badarpurghat FSD, FCI, by abusing their positions. In a statement, the head of CBI ACB Shillong said that the cases have been registered after obtaining prior approval of the competent authority.

Diarrhoea control prog launched
JOWAI, Sep 9: The Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills, E Kharmalki launched the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) 2021 programme in the district at the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills, here on Thursday. The IDCF is a programme to prevent child death from the disease. Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, the DC lauded the efforts of health officials and field workers in the implementation of various government health programmes conducted by the department from time to time. The DC encouraged all the health officials and healthcare workers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers to continue their hard work and also stated that with the cooperation of the general public all the efforts of the Government through various health programmes will come to fruition. In her address, District Immunization Officer of East Jaintia Hills, Dr. NP Suchiang, said that the aim of the IDFC 2021 is to create more awareness among the general public on the prevention of child death due to diarrhoea. She stressed on the importance of adopting healthy habits like hand washing, proper sanitation to prevent diarrhea.

Poshan Maah launched in SWGH
TURA, Sep 9: Poshan Maah was on Thursday launched in South West Garo Hills during a function at Batazor AWC near Betasing which was participated by District Deputy Commissioner Ch Ramakrishna and other district officials. The DC, during the programme, distributed seeds among the beneficiaries that include pregnant and lactating women. He also participated in the demonstration of kitchen gardening as part of Poshan Vatika. In his address, the DC laid emphasis on the need and ability of the body to absorb essential nutrients from food that is consumed, and the importance of drinking clean water and proper washing of hands. He also called on one and all to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Others who spoke during the programme include DPO Tura ICDS Cell, CD Arengh, District Horticulture Officer, Medical Officer, Ampati, et al. Hand-washing techniques were also demonstrated by the district Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) team during the occasion.

Youths told to avail scheme benefits
TURA, Sep 9: An awareness programme on Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) was recently held by the District Commerce and Industries Centre, North Garo Hills, at Bolsong Songma in Bajengdoba in a bid to sensitise the people on the scheme. Speaking during the programme as the chief guest, Ripamchi N Sangma, EAC & BDO Bajengdoba C&RD Block, spoke on the benefits of PMEGP schemes. Motivating the gathering, particularly the educated unemployed youth, towards entrepreneurship, Sangma urged them to enrol under various vocational training which would enable them to hone their skill and further create employment for themselves under the assistance of PMEGP schemes. Sangma added that due to dearth of government employment in the present scenario, the varied scope under the schemes will empower the unemployed youth to tackle unemployment and urged them to avail of its benefits.
