Awareness programme for consumers

TURA, Sep 12: A one-day consumer awareness programme was recently organised by the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner’s Office at multi-facility building in Purakhasia which was participated by people from all walks of life, including fair price shop dealers and vigilance committee members. The day-long programme also saw COVID-19 vaccination and Aadhaar enrolment camps being organised. During the programme, various government officials dwelt at length on topics such as National Food Security Act, 2013, entitlement of foodgrains for AAY and PHH beneficiaries, importance of Aadhaar enrolment for availing monthly foodgrain benefits, functions of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, rights and responsibilities of consumers, among others.
