Convict dies by suicide in WJH

JOWAI, Sep 19: A convict serving life sentence for murdering his wife has died by suicide at the Maternity and Children Hospital (MCH) here, which is currently being used as a COVID-19 centre in West Jaintia Hills. The convict identified as Madaini Maila Magar (41) was lodged in Jowai District Jail.
Sources informed that he was admitted to MCH Jowai after he complained of breathing difficulty and was later diagnosed with COVID-19.
The Jowai District Jail has admitted the convict on Saturday night. He was, however, found hanging on Sunday morning.
