TURA, Sep 27: The Association for Democracy and Empowerment (ADE) from Tura has urged concerned authorities as well as stone exporters’ body to take corrective and necessary measures on the tragic death of a minor who was run over by a dumper truck in Purakhasia recently, while warning that, if ignored, its members will be compelled to come out and monitor the plying of trucks themselves.
The Association, while condemning the killing of the child, demanded that the culprit be brought to book at the earliest and that transportation of boulders in the region be closely monitored.
“It has come to our notice that it is not an isolated case. Several incidents of people being run over by boulder-laden overspeeding trucks have been reported in the recent past. We have also learnt that there is no proper system to scrutinise the transportation of stone in this area. Neither the Forest department nor MVI or police are monitoring the plying of the trucks,” the ADE said.
The Association also questioned if the trucks have proper licenses or authorisations to ply in the region.
The minor in question, Laksbath S Sangma, from Kotchuadok village under Barengapara Police Station was run over by a boulder-laden truck coming from Dalu on Saturday.
