SHILLONG, Oct 2: Speculations are high over state BJP president, Ernest Mawrie, contesting the upcoming Assembly elections from West Shillong constituency, the groundwork for which seems to have already been laid.
Albeit Mawrie is far from making any official announcement for now, sources say that the state BJP president is more or less confirmed of contesting the elections from West Shillong constituency which is currently represented by Congress MLA, Mohendro Rapsang.
On Saturday itself, Mawrie, along with local party leaders, partook in a cleaning drive at Mawbah, to which many maintain that this is indicative of Mawrie’s plans to contest the elections from West Shillong constituency.
It was also informed that different wings and frontal organisations of the saffron party are already active in the constituency to prepare the base for the party in the constituency.
