Lahiri slips on third day at Shriners Open in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Oct 10: Struggling a windy day, Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri slipped down the leaderboard from Tied 30 to 54 after carding a one-over 72 at the Shriners Children’s Open, here. Lahiri had shot 65 and 70 on the first two days. Adam Schenk (64-65-66) was the leader at 18 under while Matthew Wolff (64-67-65) was second at 17 under. Chad Ramey, Sam Burns, and Andrew Putnam are tied for third at 16 under. On a day when it was windy and not very easy, Lahiri missed the few chances that came his way but he also managed a few tough pars on Saturday. (PTI)
Amandeep falters in final round, finishes T-11; Vani T-26 in France
Tourettes (France), Oct 10: India’s Amandeep Drall faltered on the final day with a five-over 77 card and plummeted from overnight second position to finish tied-11th at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open golf tournament here. Vani Kapoor, the other Indian in the field, also shot 77 and finished T-26 after being T-11 overnight. Sweden’s Linn Grant produced a final round of 72 to win the title by four shots. Heading into the final day, the 22-year-old held a six-shot lead after rounds of 68 (-4) and 66 (-6) on her first two days. (PTI)
Boca Juniors stay in title race with 4-2 win over Lanus
Buenos Aires, Oct 10: Boca Juniors recovered from an early deficit to secure a 4-2 win over fellow title contenders Lanus in Argentina’s Primera Division on Saturday. The result at La Bombonera leaves Boca sixth in the 26-team standings with 24 points from 15 games, nine points behind leaders River Plate. Lanus are fourth with 26 points. (UNI)

Accra, Oct 10: The Black Stars of Ghana revived their Qatar FIFA 2022 world cup qualification with an emphatic 3-1 win over the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Cape Coast stadium Saturday. Having suffered defeat to South Africa last month, the Black Stars were determined to pick all three points against the Warriors. With the win, Ghana sits second at Group G with six points behind South Africa who has seven points while Ethiopia and Zimbabwe are third and fourth with three points and one respectively. (UNI)
