State poet gets recognition

SHILLONG, Oct 25: A poet of modern Bengali literature form Meghalaya, Purushattom Bhattacharjee, has been awarded the India Prime Authors Award for his poetry book ‘Kobitar Majhe Peyechi Tomay’, published internationally from Kolkata in 2019, a statement issued here said.
A resident of Mahendraganj in South West Garo Hills, Bhattacharjee is a scholar of Literature, Music and Comparative Religious Studies, besides being a lyricist and a music composer, according to the statement.
Recently, one of his poetry books called ‘Hridmajharei Roye Gecho’ was published from Kolkata by Mukti Sahitya Prakashan at Krishna Pada Ghosh Memorial Hall, where he was felicitated and honoured with Mukti Sahitya Sammanana 2021 (Mukti International Literary Honour 2021) for his contribution in the field of modern Bengali literature, it added.
Moreover, he was also awarded with the ‘Best Music Teacher & Composer’ certificate from a Bengaluru-based research body.
