NONGSTOIN, Oct 26: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Langpih Circle has demanded of the state government to resolve the border issue in Langpih sector, West Khasi Hills, keeping in mind the opinions of the Hima, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, and the Khasi and Garo people settled there.
Calling upon Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to intervene, president of the FKJGP, Langpih Circle, Serbilin Lyngdoh, said that the border issue has become one of the biggest issues which has been kept unattended for decades now.
“We wish for the MDA Government under the leadership of Conrad Sangma to fulfil this long-pending issue which has become one of the main problems to the people who are settled in the border area,” the FKJGP said.
Stating that problems will arise when tackling the border issue, the FKJGP, however, exuded confidence in the Chief Minister and the government to move ahead with plans to resolve the disputes even as it maintained that not even a single Khasi or Garo village should be given to Assam.
