SHILLONG, Nov 4: A sum of Rs 1.5 crore would be spent for construction of five animal enclosures in the upcoming state zoo in Ri Bhoi. Recently, the Meghalaya Zoo Project Implementation Society invited a tender for construction of the five animal enclosures at an estimated cost of Rs 1.54 crore.
The period for completion of the project is 12 months.
The upcoming zoo in Ri Bhoi district has been delayed for years, but it is, however, expected to see the light of day by the end of 2023.
The objective of the proposed zoo is to provide conservation and breeding facilities for endangered wildlife species and shelter animals rescued from forests.
