Govt to issue transit pass for cattle traders

SHILLONG, Nov 5: In an attempt to ensure smooth flow of cattle transportation to state, the Meghalaya Government will issue transit passes to cattle traders bringing cattle heads from outside, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Friday.
“We have already instructed the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department to issue the transit pass,” Tynsong told reporters here.
The minister said that the department has also been instructed to ensure that there are no hurdles or difficulties for the cattle traders to bring cattle from outside the state.
On the condition of Assam government that the cattle traders would have to obtain transit pass from them, the deputy chief minister said that the Meghalaya government has already raised this matter with Assam.
Earlier, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Sanbor Shullai had informed that a notification had been issued for the transit passes to be issued to local traders for transportation of cattle.
