EJH Police thwarts robbery bid, arrest five youths

SHILLONG, Nov 9: East Jaintia Hills Police on Monday foiled a robbery bid along the NH-6 and arrested five youths in this connection.
According to a statement, the incident happened on Monday evening when a Maruti Zen (AS01N3251) waylaid one bolero pickup (AS1HC2790) which was on its way from Lumshnong to Khliehriat.
The robbers then drove the bolero pick-up with the driver inside.
Immediately after receipt of information, East Jaintia Hills Police swung into action and set up nakas along the NH-6 to rescue the victim nab the robbers.
Following this, the police team intercepted the vehicles and rescued the victim.
The robbers were also nabbed and an air pistol was recovered from their possession, which was reportedly used to intimidate the victim.
The arrested persons have been identified as Fairwancy Thoo (22) of Rymbai Pompyrthad village, Glory Rymbai (19) of Rymbai Pompyrthad village, Daniel Bareh (19) of Rymbai Pohshnong village, Melamon Tlang (19) of Rymbai Pohskur village and Eden Thoo (23) of Rymbai Pompyrthad.
