HC judge stresses on importance of moot court competitions

SHILLONG, Nov 13: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Pan India Awareness & Outreach Programme, the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Judicial Academy and District Legal Services Authority, on Saturday organised a moot court competition at the Conference Hall, Law Department, NEHU, Shillong.
Meghalaya High Court judge, Justice W. Diengdoh, who attended the programme as the chief guest, in his address, touched upon the importance of moot court competitions for law students. He said such competitions enhance the ability, way of approach and thinking capabilities of the students as they prepare themselves to be part of the Judiciary.
Moot court competition also enables students to have an inkling of the court proceedings once they pass out from their universities; it also enhances the overall development of an individual, to apply the knowledge one has acquired throughout their courses, Justice Diengdoh said.
