South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, C Kharkongor, has declared November 30 as a holiday on account of U Sngap Sing Syiem Day. In this regard, all state government offices, revenue and magisterial courts, and educational institutes in the district have been directed to remain closed during the day.
PDS quota
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that rice under NFSA and non-NFSA for November and wholemeal atta for October is being released through the respective fair price shops. A statement in this regard from the DC (Supply) also asked NFSA beneficiaries to submit their Aadhaar numbers to the fair price shop dealers. “AAY quota of rice will be distributed at the scale of 35 kg per card at Rs. 3 per kg, PHH quota at the scale of 5 kg per head at Rs 3 per kg and non-NFSA at the scale of 7.215 kg per household at Rs 12.70 to Rs 13 per kg. Wholemeal atta will be distributed at the scale of 5 kg per card in urban areas and 3 kg per card in rural areas at Rs 10.50 per kg,” the statement said.
Cleaning drive
The Dorbar of Hima Mylliem will conduct a cleaning drive at Iewduh on Sunday from 9 am onwards. A statement from the acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Ainam Manik Syiem, has also appealed to the shopkeepers to dispose of waste outside before they shut their shops on the evening of Saturday. He has also called for zero parking of vehicles at Motphran, Jeep Stand and Iew Mawlong on the day.
