Vax drives at poll booths to soon start in M’laya

NONGPOH, Nov 30: With the state government already eyeing 100 vaccination against COVID-19 before December 25, vaccination campaigns on “election mode” are lined up across Meghalaya in the run-up to Christmas.
Informing this, Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, while speaking to the reporters on Tuesday, said that such vaccination campaigns will be organised at polling booth level.
In Ri Bhoi, vaccination drives in all polling stations under Umling Block will be conducted on December 6 and 7 while for polling stations under Jirang Block, the vaccination drives will be carried out on December 9 and 10.
For Umsning Block, vaccination drives will be carried out on December 13 and 14 while for Bhoirymbong Block, similar drives will be carried out on December 16 and 17.
Making reference to the emergence of new COVID-19 variant, the DC also exhorted one to use the opportunity and get inoculated against COVID-19.
Lamenting that Ri Bhoi has reported more COVID-19-related fatalities than last year, she said 56 per cent of the total population has been inoculated with first dose while a meagre 36 per cent have taken the second dose.
