JOWAI, Dec 2: The Meghalaya Truck Owners and Suppliers’ Association has expressed its concern over blockage of transportation of assessed coal from Jaintia Hills region.
The association has claimed that transportation of assessed coal had already started in other district including West Khasi Hills and Garo Hills districts months ago, however, in Jaintia Hills, there is no progress yet.
The association leaders including its president, Balen Thubru, and Secretary, Justine Phawa, met the District Mineral Officer on Thursday and apprised him about the issue. “The officer informed us that the transit challan has already been issued to five highest bidders and they have also paid the amount three months ago,” they said.
