SHILLONG, Dec 2: The United Democratic Party (UDP) in Ri Bhoi has demanded that the nominated MDC in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) should be from Ri Bhoi since there is no party representation from the district in the Council.
Questioning senior leader, Bindo M Lanong’s nomination, a UDP leader from Ri Bhoi, on condition of anonymity, said that there is a general feeling among leaders from Ri Bhoi that the nominated MDC should be someone from the district.
“This is important to strengthen the party by looking ahead to the 2023 Assembly polls. As of now, there is no MDC or MLA from Ri-Bhoi from the party,” the UDP leader said.
