SHILLONG, Dec 8: Cabinet Minister and BJP MLA, Sanbor Shullai on Wednesday admitted that some of the political parties have approached him with the offer of projecting him as their CM candidate, but made it clear that he would not quit the saffron party.
Talking to reporters here, he said he was not surprised by the move of the political parties to approach him since the Assembly election in the state is not very far. He, however, declined to name that parties that have approached him.
According to him, political parties will adopt strategies like major football clubs who try to lure the best players to join their club when the transfer window opens up at the end of the football season.
“But I am not going anywhere since I am happy with the BJP especially under the able leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Why should I leave for another party when my people are benefitting when I am in the BJP,” Shullai said.
Asked about the All India Trinamool Congress, he said it will be too early to say whether the people will accept or reject the party.
When pointed out that former CM Mukul Sangma has claimed that AITC is the only party which can take on the BJP, Shullai said everyone praises their own party.
“Even I will praise my own party. I am confident that the BJP will perform better in the 2023 Assembly polls,” he added.
