Winter Tales Festival begins in city

SHILLONG, Dec 16: The three-day Winter Tales Festival was on Thursday kick-started at scenic Wards Lake here, in a bid to showcase local talents in the field of art and craft, food, music, et al.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who inaugurated the festival, said the idea behind the event is to celebrate a green Christmas and, at the same time, provide a platform to local artists to showcase their talent.
It may be mentioned that paintings on Meghalaya by artists from across the globe and different products of local talents are put on display during the festival.
On the first day of the three-day event, performances by the children of the Kiddies Corner Lights were put up.
Meanwhile, the chief minister has also informed that they will try to make the festival an annual affair.
