Base for synthetic football turf laid in Nongkrem

SHILLONG, Dec 21: The base of the synthetic football turf was laid at Madan Centre, Kharbuli, Nongkrem, on Tuesday. MLA, MDC and Chairman, Meghalaya State Planning Board, Lambor Malngiang took part in the ceremony and laid the foundation stone for the turf.
Malngiang said while addressing in the programme that the launch of the football turf is the realization of a long-awaited dream of the people. While he said that games and sports are now a thriving area for youth to make a career out of, he also stressed on the importance of providing proper infrastructure which will carve the growth of national and international champions.
Furthermore, Malngiang exhorted the people to cooperate with the sports department in all of its endeavours aimed at promoting sports in the state. He also encouraged the youth to avail the infrastructure and facilities that have been specifically set up for their benefit and upliftment.
Others who were present include Chief Engineer, State Sports Council, Meghalaya, B Syiem, members of the Nongkrem Dorbar Pyllun and members of the Nongkrem Sports Club, among others.
