Police seize drugs worth Rs 2.7 cr

NONGSTOIN, Dec 22: In one of their biggest drug hauls in recent times, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of Nongstoin along with Nongstoin Police seized nine kilograms of drugs value around Rs 2.7 crore from Urkali junction in Nongstoin on Wednesday.
One Moktadir Rahman was arrested for possession of the drugs which were seized from a Bolero (ML05 J 3839).
West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, HG Lyngdoh told reporters that based on inputs from East Khasi Hills District Enforcement Force and other agencies, police teams led by the ANTF of Nongstoin were strategically placed at Urkali junction, Nongstoin which intercepted the vehicle and seized forty-five packets of suspected Yaba (Amphetamine) tablets weighing about nine kg.
Nongstoin Police has registered a case under the NDPS Act, and other leads were being looked at so as to identify if more persons are involved in the case, the SP said.
The police official also disclosed that the accused was on his way from Guwahati to deliver the consignment of drugs in West Garo Hills.
