Meghalaya govt asks EMRI workers to call off strike amid pandemic

Shillong, Jan 3: As Meghalaya EMRI Workers Union (MEMRIWU) is set to launch their one- week strike starting from Monday midnight, the State Government has reached out to the agitating employees over the phone urging them to  call off the strike and maintain the status quo.

The Meghalaya EMRI Workers Union (MEMRIWU) is launching  their one-week strike starting from Monday midnight demanding  better salary and  job security.

Sources from the Government informed that the Government had reached out to the agitating group and the joint Director of NHM, updated the agitating employees over the phone about the status of the new wages

The employees wanted to have a meeting with the Government and a meeting between the Joint Director, NHM and the employees is scheduled for tomorrow.

The Government has also maintained that services should not be disturbed amid the pandemic
