SHILLONG, Jan 3: The Priestess of the Hima Khyrim, Batriti Syiem, laid the foundation stone for the office of the Basan of Raid Mawlieh at Mawlieh village near Lyngkyrdem in East Khasi Hills, where the first Ing Sad of the Hima stands.
The first Iing Sad had collapsed following a major earthquake in 1897.
It may be mentioned that the present Iing Sad located at Smit was constructed sometime between 1903 and 1919.
Syiem of Hima Khyrim, Dr Balajied Sing Syiem and his son, Habapan Sing Syiem, were also present on the occasion.
This also the first time that Priestess of the Hima Khyrim visited the village after her forefathers had left the place following the earthquake.
The Priestess also visited the old Iing Sad and the location where the Pomblang is performed at Nongrim in Iewduh village.
