Night curfew imposed in Shillong and rest of EKH district

Shillong, Jan 4:  In view of the increase in Covid-19 cases in the country due to the highly infectious Omicron variant, and in view of the observed high transmissibility of this particular variant of the virus, the district administration in East Khasi Hills (EKH) district in Meghalaya has imposed following Containment Measures in East Khasi Hills District with immediate effect till further orders :

  1. NIGHT CURFEW will be promulgated w.e.f 10:00 PM sharp to 5:00 AM daily in East Khasi Hills District, as part of containment measures. There shall be a total ban on movement during this time.
  2. All official, public and political gatherings are hereby prohibited.
  3. Weddings are permitted at 50% of the capacity in an enclosed space and maximum of 100 persons for unenclosed/open space, not exceeding 100 persons in either case. Any wedding for which permission has already been granted by this office will adhere to this limit. Wedding ceremonies in religious places of worship will be as per order from the Government of Meghalaya vide No.POL.75/2020/Pt.I/115 dated 26.11.2021. Prior permission is required from the undersigned for fresh applications. It is strongly advised that all attendees should be fully vaccinated.
  4. Gatherings for which permission has already been granted by this office will be reviewed on case to case basis and may await this office permission.
  5. Private transport within East Khasi Hills may ply on Odd-Even number basis with those registration numbers ending in odd number to ply on Monday and those ending in even number to ply on Tuesday and to follow the odd-even sequence thereafter. However, on Sundays the restriction on Odd Even rule shall not apply. Exemptions only on genuine and urgent basis will be granted which will be regulated vide separate orders. All SOPs are to be strictly followed in the vehicle.
  6. Wearing of masks as per this office order No.C&S.2/CVD/2021/ORD/305 dated 03.01.2022 is mandatory. Anyone found without a mask is liable to be fined.

Exemptions from Curfew and Movement Restrictions:-

  1. Health services including emergency services and vaccination.
  2. Medicines and Pharmaceuticals.
  3. Movement of essential goods.
  4. Movement for medical emergencies.
  5. Persons travelling on Essential Government duty viz., a. Medical Teams and officials on COVID-19 Duty. b. Police, Security and Armed Forces c. Civil Defence and Home Guards. d. Fire & Emergency Services. e. Electricity. f. Water Supply. g. Municipal Services. h. Public Distribution System. i. Information and Public Relations. j. Telecommunication services.
  6. Print & Electronic Media.
  7. NARI/ 1917iTEAMS.
  8. Petrol pumps.
  9. LPG Distributors.
  10. Essential Veterinary services including feed and fodder movement for livestock for farmers
