NE Power Committee gets new Member Secretary

SHILLONG, Jan 4: Brieflee Lyngkhoi has taken over as Member Secretary, North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC), from the January 1 this year.
NERPC is an apex body under Ministry of Power, Government of India, for Power Sector in the Northeastern region.
All the utilities viz. CPSUs, State utilities, Transmission Utilities, Power Traders, Captive Power Plants and Independent Power Producers come under the umbrella of NERPC with its Secretariat located at Lapalang in Shillong. Over the years, NERPC has been involved in the co-ordinated operation and development of NER power sector.
Under the convenorship of Member Secretary, NERPC various Sub-Committee meetings are held periodically to resolve issues, plan future projects and monitor development projects at various stages of implementation.
Lyngkhoi, Member Secretary, NERPC, is from Indian Engineering Service (IES-96 Batch) and joined CPES Cadre under Ministry of Power and Central Electricity Authority.
He has undergone specialisation in various training centres in India, USA, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Scandinavian Countries and Australia to mention a few of them.
He has wide experience in various fields under power sector. He is the first person from the region to head this coveted post.
