Armed robbers loot over Rs 2 lakh from petrol pump

Nongpoh, Jan 8: Unidentified miscreants armed with sophisticated looted over Rs. 2 lakhs from a petrol pump known as Highway Carrier Refilling Center located at 14th Mile in Ri Bhoi District on Friday evening.

As per sources, the two miscreants – one armed with a AK-47 assault rifle and another with a 9mm pistol — came on a motorbike, a red and black coloured 220cc Pulsar and barged into the cabin of the petrol pump manager and asked for the locker and took away all the cash amounting to more than Rs. 2 lakhs.

Meanwhile, as they were about to flee from the scene, the armed miscreants again saw another staff of the petrol pump bringing sale money which too they snatched and fled towards Sonapur Area of Assam.

As per the CCTV Footages, one of the armed miscreants with AK47 had covered his face with a muffler while the other one with a 9mm pistol was wearing a helmet. However, due to the low resolution of CCTV footage, the registration number of the motorbike could not be identified.

Following the incident, police personnel from Byrnihat Outpost rushed to the spot to conduct enquiry into the matter and investigation is underway to arrest the armed miscreants. An FIR has also been filed at Byrnihat Police Outpost in this regard
