TURA, Jan 7: The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC), some members of which stand accused of creating ruckus at a fuel pump in North Garo Hills, has gainsaid the charges made against them.
The incident took place on January 5 at Super Energy Fuel Pump at Mendipathar during which miscreants, including leaders of the GSMC, allegedly assaulted the staff with an attempt to extort as well as forcibly take away fuel besides shutting down its operation.
A police complaint was also filed in this regard while four of the accused have since been nabbed by police.
Denying the allegations against its members, the GSMC claimed that the fuel pump in question was duping the customers by providing fuel disproportionate to the amount being paid for the same.  It added that the members were only investigating the matter after getting several complaints from the public.
The committee also claimed that its members had tried to file a police complaint against the fuel pump but the same was not accepted by the Mendipathar outpost.
