TURA, Jan 11: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh on Tuesday restricted the movement of persons within 100 metres from the Indo-Bangladesh border between 6 pm and 6 am with immediate effect.
In a statement, the DC informed that the restriction was necessitated in a bid to thwart illegal activities and transborder crimes along the international border and after reports of terrorists and fundamentalists trying to sneak in through the porous borders during the night were received.
In a separate order, the DC also revised night curfew timings in the district. The night curfew will now be imposed between 10 pm and 5 am.
Other restrictions as per the order include ban on public gatherings, mandatory production of RT-PCR certificate or getting tested at entry point for persons entering the state, besides others.
