SHILLONG, Jan 13: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that he welcomes the stand of the Congress on working closely with the government on important issues concerning the state.
“We can work together in a positive manner as long as we keep the interest of the people and the state ahead of everything,” Conrad told reporters here on Tuesday.
According to the chief minister, together they can work on measures to tackle the prevailing COVID-19 situation. “But if there are issues that they don’t agree with us then obviously the Congress can maintain a stand against the government,” the Chief Minister said.
Stating that the Congress wants to play constructive politics, the CM said that they will maintain their stand of being firm on issues they do not agree with the government on.
“I am looking forward for such an association,” Sangma added.
The Congress decided to work together with the MDA Government on issues relating to the interests of people.
“We have decided to offer our support to the government on the aspect of governance in the greater interest of the people of Meghalaya,” Congress leader Ampareen Lyngdoh had said.
