SHILLONG, Jan 14: The state government will discuss about the Sonapur bridge which had reportedly developed cracks with the officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday.
“The experts have already inspected the bridge and they will work out and I will call a meeting on Monday,” informed Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Friday.
A team of experts from NHAI has finished inspecting the Sonapur bridge in East Jaintia Hills, which has reportedly developed cracks, and is expected to submit its report to the government within few days.
The Sonapur bridge connects Meghalaya with Cachar district of Assam and other Northeastern states like Agartala and Manipur.
An official of the NHAI had earlier informed that a decision will be taken based on the recommendations of the expert team on what should be done with the bridge which has reportedly developed cracks.
