‘Mega camps’ in EKH villages
SHILLONG, Jan 24: The office of the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills will be organising ‘Mega Camps’ in polling stations under Mawsynram and Sohiong constituencies on January 28 and 29, a statement issued here informed. The camps will be carrying out COVID-19 vaccination for people that are 15 years and above, registration of unorganised workers for E-SHRAM, Aadhaar enrolment and Aadhaar seeding for ration card holders. Precautionary dose will be administered to frontline workers and persons aged 60 years and above with comorbidities, who have already secured two doses of COVID-19 vaccine and have completed nine months (39 weeks) from the date of administration of the 2nd dose. With regard to COVID-19 vaccination on election mode being carried out across the polling stations in the two constituencies, the deputy commissioner has advised the public to come forward for vaccination.

Statehood day celebration at MLCU
SHILLONG, Jan 24: As part of the celebration on 50 years of Meghalaya’s statehood, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) on Monday organised a programme to highlight the history of the state, the sacrifices made by many and the expectations for our future. The event faculty and students saw a blend of music, poetry recitations and roleplay by students and faculty of different departments of the university. The students of the Department of Environment and Traditional Ecosystems gave a presentation on the ‘Waste Scenario in Meghalaya’. The University also organised an ‘Essay Writing Contest’ on ‘50 Years Meghalaya: A journey thus far & my future expectation for positive changes’. Mebanialam Tang of the Department of Politics & International Studies, Pondicherry University, won the first prize in the contest, while Bandashisha Rynjah of the Department of Tourism and Travel Management, MLCU, bagged the second prize.
