Two state cops win medals
SHILLONG, Jan 25: Two Meghalaya Police personnel namely, Banpyrkhat Nongsiej, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Special Branch, and Tandronath Kharbani, Driver Constable, Fire & Emergency Service, have been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service and Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service respectively, as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the occasion of Republic Day, a statement issued here by the Meghalaya Police, said.

Restriction in int’l border area
AMPATI, Jan 25: Under an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills, Ramakrishna Chitturi on Monday, movement of persons within 100 metres of the Indo-Bangla border has been restricted in the district from 6 PM to 6 AM with immediate effect until further order. The prohibitory order has been issued in order to keep a check on movements of international gangs, criminals and other illegal activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border and thus, to curb the criminal activities within the district such as smuggling of cattle, phensidyl, yaba tablets, ganja, liquor during night hours from India to Bangladesh.

Sale of Meghalaya calendars
SHILLONG, Jan 25: The Meghalaya multi-paged calendar and single-page calendar 2022 will be available for public sale at the office building of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Lower Lachumiere, Shillong from 11 AM to 2 PM, January 27 onwards on all working days. The price of the multi-paged calendar is Rs. 80 while that of single page calendar is Rs. 20.
